New Thurston

I'm either getting old and and "out of touch," or new guitar music just isn't there (or good). I'm old and the latter. This one's got some "Murray Street" vibes for sure. Thurston!

Horrors + Thurston

Clearly iPhone live shots so the sound isn't great, but the effect the lights have on the camera turn this into an interesting visual peice on its own.

Thurston on La Blogotheque

I followed Joey Ramone walking down Bleecker Street and I rolled open my Volkswagen window and I said to him: Where's CBGB?! And he was like, It's THIS way! And I asked him if he wanted a ride..."

Thurston Moore @ Other Music: 05/23/11

This is the scene an iPhone without flash attached to an elongated arm captured as its owner was pressed against the back row of records at Other Music tonight. Thurston and band played through most of Demolished Thoughts...bravo indeed.

Thurston Moore x "Benediction" Video

Thurston's great new Nick Drake-esq track gets a slowed down, filtered video comprised of war imagery.

Thurston Moore x "Benediction"

Thurston's got a new Matador solo (and song oriented) record, Demolished Thoughts, out May 24 - the entire record was recorded on a 12-string acoustic.

Take a listen to the first single here: "Benediction"

Thurston Moore x 12 String Meditations For Jack Rose

A message from VDSQ:
"VDSQ Solo Acoustic Volume Five- 12 String Meditations For Jack Rose.
Solo, untreated, 12-string compositions in tribute to one of the greats. An album of instrumentals in requiem."

Vinyl only- February 2011. This is probably going to make me want to get a 12-sting axe all the more.

Thurston Moore x "You've Lost Your Lover"

So this is cool- but I'm wondering why the internet didn't bring this to my attention, like, 7 months ago. Thurston breaks out new solo jam "You've Lost Your Lover" for the lawn at SXSW this past spring on a rad 12 string guitar. He's busy recording the follow up to his great 2007 solo record, Trees Outside The Academy, as we speak and will put that out next year on Matador. Damn, I need a 12 string...left-handed, please.

Check it out (3:15 mark)!

Beck's Record Club x Beck / Thurston / Tortoise x "One Man's Dream" (Yanni)

I continue to be amazed by this edition of Beck's Record Club.  I mean, Yanni?  Noise?  Good?  I actually hope they press this 1-day collab (1 day?!) because it's seriously good.
