For me, artists like Fennesz and Tim Hecker make great 'walk to the subway in a foot of snow and ice' music...and we have some prefect timing here because a little bird (actually it was a gnarly New York pigeon-rat) told me that it is going to snow 8-14 inches tonight and that I should check out a new Tim Hecker joint: "Hatered of Music" from Hecker's upcoming Ravedeath, 1972 - recorded in Reykjavik using a pipe organ as the main sound source manipulated with computer plus synthesizer, piano, and mic and guitar amp feedback).
