Serena-Maneesh "S-M 2: Abyss in B Minor"

SM are from Norway and, if the internet can be believed, SM recorded their new record in a cave (see: SM are from Norway). To me, the sounds on S-M 2... are neither here nor there. At times the songs can be chaotic and disorienting. Melodies reveal themselves as distinguishable, only to disappear almost as quickly as they arrived. During other moments there appear to be distinct melodies, except that those melodies have been twisted through a maze of wires so many times that they become something new altogether...as so goes shoegaze. There. I said it. Check out fist single "I Just Want to see Your Face" which is one of my favorite cuts of 2010.

The album was recorded in a cave.

S-M 2: Abyss in B Minor is out now via 4AD.
